LRG raises over £21,500 so far for Macmillan Cancer Support

Leaders Romans Group (LRG) has raised over £21,500 so far for Macmillan Cancer Support since partnering with them last May.

As part of the LRG Manager’s Conference earlier in the year, a staff vote was held to determine LRG’s charity of choice for the coming year. Macmillan won by more than half the votes, and colleagues across the business have gotten stuck into fundraising in a variety of different ways.

This has involved sky dives, marathons, walking challenges, coffee mornings, dressing in green (Macmillan’s brand colour), and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

Peter Kavanagh, CEO of Leaders Romans Group, comments, “The relationship with Macmillan is really important to us. Unfortunately, so many of us have had friends, family and colleagues who have had challenges around cancer, and that’s why the support has been so strong.

“The encouraging bit for me, is the longer time goes on, the outcome is more successful. This shows the importance of raising money so that ongoing research can happen because for a lot of people, cancer now is something you can survive, recover, and move on from. Continuing to raise money is really important from that perspective so more and more people get this opportunity.”

Diana Roberts, Relationship Manager at Macmillan Cancer Support also comments, “We are really honoured to be partnered with Leaders Romans Group and the amount of money that has been raised so far is the equivalent of 666 nursing hours which we couldn’t do without them. As a charity we’ve come through a pandemic and we are funded by donations alone, so the events and partnership we have with Leaders Romans Group is so important.”

LRG is proud to be continuing to support Macmillan until the end of 2023 to raise money for this much needed charity.
