On Wednesday 23 September 2026, Peter and Ian will walk from LRG’s head office in Camberley to Step by Step’s headquarters in Aldershot. The challenge forms part of Step by Step’s Go the Distance campaign, which encourages supporters to take on a distance, their way, to help raise vital funds for young people in need.
Step by Step works with vulnerable young people, helping to prevent homelessness and supporting those aged 11 to 25 as they build more stable futures. The charity provides practical and emotional support, helping young people access safe accommodation, develop life skills, build confidence and move towards education, employment and independent living.
Peter and Ian visited Step by Step earlier this year and were struck by the important work the charity does, and by the reality that many of the young people it supports find themselves facing homelessness or vulnerability due to circumstances outside of their control.
Peter Kavanagh, Executive Chairman at LRG, said:
“Earlier this year, Ian and I visited Step by Step and saw first-hand the fantastic work they do to support young people facing extremely difficult circumstances. Many of these young people are homeless or vulnerable through no fault of their own, and Step by Step plays a vital role in helping them rebuild their lives and find a route back into education, employment and independent living.
“On 23 September, Ian and I will be walking the 10 miles from our head office in Camberley to Step by Step’s HQ in Aldershot. We would be very grateful for any support people are able to give to help this brilliant charity continue its vital work.”
Peter and Ian are aiming to raise over £2,000 for Step by Step, with every donation helping the charity continue to support young people who need help getting a start in life.
