National Apprenticeship Week 4th – 8th March 2019

March 8, 2019 PR Officer

In support of national apprenticeship week, the Leaders Romans Group wanted to shout about its success with the growth of our apprenticeship scheme.

Over the past year, we have put a lot of focus and drive into our apprenticeship scheme. We currently have 165 live apprenticeships with the aim of having over 250 signed up or in the process of signing up by the close of 2019. This will mean that we will have 12% of our workforce being developed just through the apprenticeship route, let alone the other internal training programs we provide to our employees.

Unlike the traditional approach of an apprenticeship, we have taken the route to develop our own staff, this is proven by 80% of those on an apprenticeship are through upskilling of our current employees. We have decided to take this approach because we are invested in our current employees’ career growth and working to build our future leaders from within.

We have also built a strong portfolio of available courses for our employees. We provide industry-specific courses that allow our employees to gain their ARLA/NAEA qualifications, something that not all agents provide. This allows us to continue to be the best within the industry with a focus on our employees providing clients with the best service.

In addition to all of the above, we introduced a tailor-made apprenticeship for our call centre team based at Crowthorne House. Which has enabled us to create a specialist diploma allowing us to ensure this qualification is industry specific and provides our employees with the skills they need to succeed within the industry.

Through the significant changes, we have made in our employee development and driving the uptake of apprenticeships we have been able to support and drive our stars of the future. The program has allowed us to offer greater opportunities and career development for our teams, and in return, we have committed employees who are invested in the success of our business.

We would encourage every employer to provide apprenticeship programs to their employees. Not only does it provide fantastic learning opportunities but it also teaches you a thing or two along the way, allowing you to adapt your business for the future successors.

In addition, we have seen some amazing feedback from our training providers saying how dedicated our employees are to their apprenticeships:

Jamiel Robinson-Beckford – Level 2 Property Services Lettings & Management

Jamiel has been working on his lettings apprenticeship since May 2018. He is ahead of target and will definitely be ready to complete on time. Jamiel has since the first day had a positive attitude towards his apprenticeship and his coursework. He has an extremely supportive team that he works within and this has been one of the keys to his success so far. When Jamiel started in his role he was only dealing with one aspect of lettings and worked solely in property maintenance. He has with the support from Emma and guidance from myself gone through training in many other aspects as his course required it.  Jamiel rose to the challenge on every occasion throughout his training and was never negative or worried about stepping outside of his comfort zone to learn new things. He has always completed all his tasks and workbooks on time and to a high standard. He has been ahead of his target progression from the beginning due to his work ethic and commitment to the apprenticeship. I know from conducting reviews with his manager that he has had some really positive feedback from customers also, essentially he is a pleasure to work with a credit to the business.

Colette Plater – Level 2 Property Services Lettings & Management

She is well supported by her branch and is allocated time whilst at work to complete the NVQ and regularly completes work to the set deadlines. This is her 1st position in estate agency and has increased in confidence considerably in the last 6 months, she ahead of target and due to complete her apprenticeship in July.

Congratulations to all staff involved in our Apprenticeship programme, we are so pleased with the dedication you continue to show to your future careers and look forward to signing up plenty more employees in the future as the programme continues to grow and adapt to our business needs.
