The Leaders Romans
Group (LRG) is delighted to announce Age UK as its charity focus for 2020.
After splitting its focus across three fantastic charities
in 2019 – Age UK, Teenage Cancer Trust and Battersea – LRG will dedicate its
sole focus to Age UK for the coming year, and has big plans to involve its
customers, as well as its employees, in its fundraising efforts.
The Group, which was formed by the merge of Leaders and
Romans estate and lettings agencies in 2016, has over 165 branches across
England and Wales and has worked with Age UK to design its own charity bag
scheme.
The scheme was trialled in the Thames Valley at the start of
2019 and saw a collection of 1,333 bags – equivalent to £19,995 – collected and
donated to Age UK’s shops in just five months. Now the Group pledges to raise
£100,000 – and is encouraging its strong branch network, plus its extensive
client base, to get involved.
Vanessa Foot, Culture and Community Manager, comments: “We
were delighted with the amount raised from our Age UK charity bag trial last
year – and are excited to see how well the scheme will run in 2020. As a
property services company, we meet customers who will be clearing their homes
in anticipation of moving on a daily basis, so encouraging them to donate their
unwanted items as opposed to throwing them out is a simple but very effective way
of raising money for Age UK, while promoting a reduction in items being sent to
landfill.
“It’s not just our customers getting involved, though. Our
employees are key contributors to the charity bag scheme too, and are looking
forward to getting stuck in to this year’s efforts.”
The Group’s sales and lettings teams will enlist the help of
their clients by leaving them with charity bags when they visit them on
valuations or viewing appointments. Bags can then be dropped to any Leaders or
Romans branch once they are full, and will be distributed to local Age UK
charity shops, where the enclosed items will be sold – each bag is worth an
average of £15. Alternatively, customers are able to donate the bags straight
to their local or preferred Age UK store.
In addition to the charity bag scheme, LRG runs frequent fundraising
activities throughout the year, which Vanessa is always proud to see. “From
cake sales and coffee mornings to sky dives and treks of the Great Wall of
China, we rarely see a week go by without one of our employees taking on their
latest charity challenge. This is something we’re exceptionally proud of at
LRG, and we will continue to encourage and support our members of staff in
their generous efforts to raise funds for Age UK and other charities of their
choice.”
